Our Dreams

Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)

20-21 God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Everybody needs a dream. Dreams excite and propel us forward. The history of this church is a testimony to the power of a God-given dream and we never want our dreams to shrink to the size of our situation.

We believe the following to be our God given dreams as we push forward into the future.

To be a “life-giving” church for people and families

Hillcrest has a legacy of people and families whose lives have been changed through their connection with Hillcrest and we have a dream of continuing to help transform individual lives as well as the lives of families.

To sharpen our focus on inner-city ministries

Hillcrest is located on the Hilltop of Columbus Ohio. It is an inner-city diverse community rich with history. We dream of a community where kids, young people, adults and families alike are valued and equipped for living to their full potential in the Lord. This dream leads us to be innovative and creative in our outreach to our neighbors.

To plant a church in the suburbs of Columbus

Hillcrest was a church plant as First Baptist Church, located in downtown Columbus at the time, reached to its west suburbs. Hillcrest has a similar dream as we believe God has called us to plant a church in the suburbs of Columbus. We believe a partnership with a church in the suburbs will enhance ministries and further help us to "change the world."

Our marks of maturity

We strive to create a church for the "curious to the committed" but our end objective is the committed. We believe once you commit to Christ and His cause, your life and eternity will be changed forever. We further believe that the one who commits to the Lord will then go and "change the world."

To help us identify with what a committed person looks like we have identified marks of maturity that we believe the committed in Christ should display.

Marks of Maturity:

One who Believes in the Promises of God (Faith)

One who always Hungers for the word of God

One who regularly Connects with God through prayer

One who is actively Involved in the life of the church

One who knows the joy of Giving to and Serving others

One who actively Shares the gospel with others

One who seeks to Live a Godly life before others

One who Leads like Jesus and Changes the world
